Every now and then, I get reminded that I’m not a child anymore. Despite my reckless spending habits and regular instances of day-drinking, I unconsciously am quite grown-up; the monotony of the real world sucks you into a lulled state, and only now and then do you get reminded that this is your life now. I’m in a status quo, with no real expiry. If I don’t do anything, this is...

A commencement speech given by C. S. Lewis edited by hitRECordJoe original version here The Inner Ring By C. S. Lewis
When you invite a middle-aged moralist to address you, I suppose I must conclude, however unlikely the conclusion seems, that you have a taste for middle-aged moralising….
Do you ever have revelations from things so dated, its almost better left alone, so that you don’t stay up thinking all night and tracing it back to yourself.
It probably wasn’t you.
But maybe if you had said yes, they would have too. They asked the questions you never could. They said the things you never did. And maybe their defenses started because you showed yours first.
Maybe it...

Well, its obviously a good time for reflection and forward looking. My favourite new year’s resolution tradition is crossing off three things from my bucket list. 2011 allowed me to cross off the following:
- own a violin/learn to play (I’ll admit saying I can play violin is a bit of a stretch right now, but technically, I can play a song. Looking to take lessons shortly.)
- ride in...

Drinking and ordering books off Amazon is starting to become a habit. Uh oh.
Related to a resolution, I’ve decided that with the new daylight savings time, I’m going to run two weekdays a week before work. I cannot tell you what a difference this hour change makes; I can already tell I’m going to be much happier in my mornings.
Bellwether Ideas →
It is most certainly in a beginning stage, and I don’t expect updates too too often, but I thought I’d introduce a blog I’ve started which is really more of a creativity project to me. It’s based on an idea from Seth Godin of practicing to develop idea generation.
It’s a pretty hard company to have chosen, but Google is my dream company, so I really didn’t...

It sounds so trivial, but I lost my phone. Not in the physical sense, but the broken screen has rendered it useless. It didn’t bother me much, the actual replacement of contents and downloading of apps, but there are some things that I haven’t been able to retrieve.
I wrote a lot on my phone. I kept lists of books/songs/films to look into, carefully hidden passwords, perfect gifts...

Holy, beautiful.
Well, I’ve started another blog, Dreaming of Choo, to document my fashion wish list. Let’s just say I’m very, very excited for fall, and the return of regular paychecks.

Floating Woman blog HERE.
I’ve seen it done before, but this collection is worth checking out.
Ever the multi-tasker, I am so glad I found Indie Soup Runner. Every month they release a 60 min mix of songs for running to. Now, I can discover new music while learning to like to run.

I haven’t posted much this summer, but it’s been for the good purpose of going out more and being generally so happy.
Despite the kinda crappy month of June with commutes to York, I can say this is my best summer so far. I can’t place the change, but I know I have, and I have become so much more willing and ready to accept happiness.
I’m relaxed, excited, and oddly...
